The Big Reset

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

The Big Reset: War on gold and the Financial Endgame, published in 2013 by Amsterdam University Press, is a treatise on the current international monetary system. The author argues why the current dollar-centric system is unsustainable and will need to find a new anchor and a debt restructuring, during  a monetary reset.

Chapter 1 - The History of Money, lays the foundation for the rest of the book by answering basic questions about money and giving a brief overview of its history. By giving historical examples about monetary systems that collapsed and their similarities to our current system the author makes the case why our current system is unsustainable.

Chapter 2 - Central Bankers The Alchemists of our Time, describes the origins of central banking and their use of the creation of money. The author explains how we all have become used to seeing fiat money as value and that this implies that our entire monetary system is built on trust instead of intrinsic value.

Chapter 3 - The history of the Dollar, details our current monetary system where the dollar is world’s reserve currency, controlled by the American Federal Reserve, which is a private institution and not part of the US government. The author explains how the dollar, over the last century, has evolved into the currency it is today and how it is used as a weapon in ‘financial warfare’ to reach American geopolitical goals.

Chapter 4 - A planet of Debt, explains how the decoupling of gold and the dollar,  gave way to much more money creation, simply by issuing new debt. Since the closing of the ‘gold window’ by President Nixon in 1971, US and global debt has risen exponentially. Middelkoop points out the fact the US, like all countries with debt issued in their own currency, cannot go bankrupt because they can always create new money to pay off their debts. But history clearly shows that in the past similar situations has lead to (hyper)inflation and that at some point, governments need to get rid of their debts. This will happen either through inflation, debt defaults or debt restructuring. The author calls these options monetary resets and that it could happen again, probably before 2025

Chapter 5 - The War on Gold, describes why the central banks need to control the price of gold in order to protect the international monetary system. A rising dollar price of gold acts as a canary in the gold mine, pointing to dollar trouble, because it is losing value relative to gold. The author gives historical examples that kings and bankers have tried to control the price of gold throughout the ages and eventually failed without exception. The author clearly explains how to modern gold and silver prices are manipulated and backs this up with proof, like the London Gold Pool in the 1960’s.

Chapter 6 - The Big Reset  explains why the author expects a monetary reset in the global financial system and how this scenario could unfold. A geopolitical overview of the current situation is being given and the opinions of experts and stakeholders like the IMF and China are reviewed.
