The Bosch eBike system

The Bosch eBike system is a collection of components which together make up the electrical system for the electric bicycles. Third-party manufacturers may license Bosch system for their bicycles. Usually there are three main components. The control unit, battery and drive unit. Some bikes have also additional units like ABS unit[1], electrical suspension, electrical gears[2] or front and rear lights.

Displays[5][edit]

Bosch offers six different control units to its customers. Purion, Intuvia, Kiox, Nyon, Cobi.Bike and Smartphone hub. Cobi.Bike and Smartphone hub uses Cobi.bike smartphone app to display information to user. Other four screens are intependent screens. Purion and Intuvia are black and white screens. Kiox and Nyon are more advanced color screens with bluetooth connectivity.

Batteries[6][edit]

Bosch offers three different kind of batteries.[7] Models are Rack PowerPack, PowerPack and PowerTube. PowerTube is internal battery and usually located in down tube of bicycle. With dual battery option second battery is usually located in top tube of bicycle. PowerPack is external battery and usually it is located top of down tube. Rack version of PowerPack is common in urban bikes like city and hybrid bikes. All Bosch batteries operates at 36 voltages.

History[edit]

Bosch eBike motor system have been founded in 2009 and launched in 2010. Bosch brought first eBike system to the market in model year 2011.[8]
