The Bus Driver (Arabic: سواق الأتوبيس‎, translit. Sawaq al-Utubis) is a 1982 Egyptian drama film directed by Atef El-Taieb[1] and written by Bachir El Dik. It follows a bus driver, Hassan (Nour El-Sherif) as he tries to provide money for his father's workshop before it's sold at auction. Many have cited the film as the start of the New Realism movement in Egyptian cinema [2] and is often considered one of the country's greatest films.[3]

Synopsis

A father loses his carpentry workshop after his son-in-law stops paying taxes regularly. His son Hassan, a bus driver, struggles hard to save his father’s workshop, while the daughters try to replace it with a new project inspired by the “Infitah” era.
