The Cascade is the University of the Fraser Valley's student-run paper, with offices located on the university’s campus in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada. While the paper's current era as The Cascade began in 1993, it began publication in the 1970s, under different names that would last only for a short number of years. The Cascade has around 20 paid staff and a number of volunteer contributors. It operates independently of the university’s administration and student society. The paper is currently composed of five major sections: News, Opinion, Culture, Sports, and Arts-in-Review.
It is published weekly on Wednesdays throughout the fall and winter semesters, and bi-weekly through part of the summer semester.
The Cascade's local arts and literary magazine, The Zine, contains art, poetry, short stories, journalism, and non-academic essays. It is published in lieu of the last issue of the fall, winter, and summer semesters.
