The Chronicle is the student-run official publication of Eton College, a public school in Eton, Berkshire, England. Originally published fortnightly, it has run in various formats. It is currently published for significant national and school events.
History
The Chronicle was first published on 14 May 1863[1] as a fortnightly publication of four pages, reporting on life in Eton College and its wider community, including important occurrences in the lives of its former pupils. By the turn of the century, it had begun to reflect on significant national events, publishing an issue commemorating the funeral of Victoria I,[2] and it was by then publishing weekly, being a major source of information to students and staff, and publishing lists of boys at the school.[3]. However, the publication had moved to a more magazine-style format and less frequent editions by the 1980s.[4]
