The Circulate Initiative is a nonprofit based in New York City. It was founded in 2018, by Rob Kaplan in response to widespread plastic pollution. The organization also advocates for circular and equitable economies across emerging markets through partnerships with corporations, investors and policymakers.
The organization also works to develop new research and tools, and scale programs which focus on addressing the challenge of ocean plastic pollution.
Through work with their partnerships they have provided greater financial transparency of the plastics circular economy, facilitated an improved understanding of local recycling supply chains, with additional efforts to advance inclusivity within the ecosystem.
