History[edit]
TCI was launched in 1998[2] as The Coding Institute by Global Success Corp. in Naples, Florida. The initial business focus was providing specialty-specific newsletters with guidance for physician practices on how to report medical codes correctly on health insurance[3] claims.
The Coding Institute became part of Durham, North Carolina-based Eli Research Inc[4]. in 2002 when Eli [5](now Eli Global[6]) acquired the medical newsletter business of Global Success Corp[7].
The Coding Institute re-branded as TCI in May 2017 to recognize the company’s expansion over the years to cover additional areas, such as medical billing, compliance with legal requirements for healthcare administration, and revenue cycle management. TCI product divisions include TCI SuperCoder (online coding resources), TCI Newsletters, TCI Books, and TCI Publishing.
Products and Services[edit]

Categories of books include code set manuals (CPT®, ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, HCPCS), Coders’ Specialty Guides with illustrations, specialty coding dictionaries, and handbooks for specific areas of healthcare administration, reimbursement, and compliance.
TCI SuperCoder (SuperCoder LLC) is a BBB-accredited business that provides online coding and compliance resources[8], including medical code search for physician and facility settings, a code search browser extension, tools that allow lookup of U.S Medicare payment and coverage data (fee schedules, Correct Coding Initiative edits, and payer policies), online versions of TCI newsletters, search of Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) measures, and ICD-10-CM software.
TCI SuperCoder also provides training services and publishes Rapid Coder charts, which are specialty-specific ICD-10-CM coding charts. Additional offerings include Ask an Expert, a paid service that provides responses to questions about coding, and SuperCoding on Demand, which allows customers to submit documentation and receive an opinion on proper coding.
TCI Newsletters publishes 30 newsletters, including specialty Coding Alerts and other newsletters focused on medical coding, compliance, healthcare policy and reimbursement, and revenue cycle management for healthcare entities.
