The Cut, wikipedia page

The Cut were a Leeds band formed in the early 1980's, they were first known as The Jaks (made up of the band's members initials, that been John Haley, Andy Knight and Steve Knight) they later changed this to The New Standards but this name caused conflicts as there was another local band already called The Standards, so the band name was changed to 'The Cut' Due to power struggles Andy Knight left the band but remained part of the band as their Sound Manager. The Cut were scheduled to support the UK Subs at a prominent gig at the Leeds Beirkellar but Subs didn't show, so gig was cancelled. The Cut were included in a various artists LP which was released in 1985, their Songs on this LP were 'Choice' and 'Blue Sky' this LP was called Parkside Shivers produced by Leeds Indepentdant Label. A copy was bought in a local Bradford record shop by the DJ John Peel and was played on his show and lead to sales of the LP in European countries and as far as Japan. The band played at many venues throughout Leeds and had a good fan base. The band split mutually in 1987. Copies of the LP are quite rare now and can be found for sale globally
