The European Innovative Teaching Award is granted by the European Commission to value the work of teachers and educators of Europe.
The goal for the awards is to:
- Inspire and celebrate the achievements of teachers and schools, raising the prestige of the teaching profession.
- Identify and promote innovative teaching and learning practices.
- Highlight the value of the Erasmus+ programme in supporting teacher collaboration and the European Education Area.
The award was first given i 2021. Each year is given a thematic area.
The thematics by has been:
- 2021: Distance and blended learning. Despite the differences among students, the European education system is able to offer the same opportunities to everyone, allowing for inclusiveness, competence development, and collaboration.
- 2022: Learning together, promoting creativity and sustainability.
- 2023: Education and innovation. Robotics, coding and programming, artificial intelligence, virtual reality and entrepreneurship.
- 2024: Educators and schools whose projects successfully engage with enhancing wellbeing at school, in a whole-school approach perspective.
- 2025: Citizenship Education - participation in democratic life, common values and civic engagement.
