The Field Project, Kinlochard
Introduction
The Field Project (Kinlochard) is lead by the Kinlochard Community Residents Association (KCRA) and aims to purchase a 27 acre piece of land, referred to by locals as 'The Field'. The field is surrounded by coniferous commercial forest making it a wildlife hotspot. 'The Field' is a key space for the small rural village of Kinlochard which in recent history has lost many vital amenities.[1]
The Mission
The Kinlochard Community Life Plan has helped KCRA identify what matters most to the village and it's people. One of the main ideas was that 'The Field' needs to be protected, conserved and nurtured. To achieve this, KCRA is attempting to bring the land into community ownership. An extensive plan to do just that.[2]
The Plan
KCRA and the community says "The Field is a diverse area with opportunities to develop some pockets of land whilst protecting and enhancing the rich natural habitat" and that the first phase of their plan is to "sensitively manage" the land, improve access, provide spaces for education, and celebrate and share the land's heritage.[3] More information is available in their 'Community Plans for The Field' document.
Fundraising & Publicity
KCRA flag for Everest Basecamp
In late 2025, 2 representative's of Macdonald Hotel & Resorts' Forest Hills Hotel set off for Mount Everest Basecamp to help raise awareness of The Field Project. Children of Kinlochard helped to create a flag for the project to be placed at Mount Everest.[4]
'Pies, pints and plot twists'
In October 2025, KCRA and Kinlochard Village Hall teamed up to organise a fundraising night. A play was performed by Riverside Drama Club and pies were served. Tickets were sold at £12 each and funds went towards the project.[5]
Newsletter
Several editions of 'The Field Newsletter' have been written by local residents and are available on The Field Project website.[6]
