The Firth o Clyde Rotary Trail

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

The Firth o Clyde Rotary Trail (FoCRT), is the combination of three long-distance paths running from the south west of Scotland to Milngavie in East Dunbartonshire, where the West Highland Way starts. The total length of the FoCRT trail is around 280km (174mi).

Each of the paths were established and are maintained by Rotary Clubs.

The FoCRT starts with the 59km (37mi) Mull of Galloway Trail. Rotary Club of Stranraer created and maintains this trail. Close to Glenapp, the FoCRT becomes the Ayrshire Coastal Path under the auspices of the Rotary Club of Ayr. This 160km (100mi) path runs along the coast to Skelmorlie. At this point the FoCRT becomes the Clyde Coastal Path (CCP). The CCP was established by the Rotary Clubs of Gourock and Allander and follows the River Clyde to the Erskine Bridge where it crosses the water and heads inland to Milngavie. The CCP adds a further 60km (37mi) or 65km (40mi) depending on which route option to get to Greenock is selected.

The Firth o Clyde Rotary Trail in Scottish Gaelic is Slighe Rotaraidh Linne Chluaidh. The Firth o Clyde Rotary Trail was formally opened by Sally Magnusson on 9th May, 2015 in a ceremony held in Milngavie.

The FoCRT is part of the International Appalachian Trail Scotland.
