The Funky Zoo is an Australian musical. It premiered at the Bondi Pavilion Theatre in 1992.[1] The full repertoire of songs are by Ken Stewart and Phil Paviour. The story follows the dreaming adventure of a little girl concerned about the welfare of the animals in the zoo after a visit that day with her father. The environmental theme suggests that the animals are safer in the zoo than in their natural habitats. The song ‘Funky Zoo’ music and lyrics Ken Stewart was nominated by the Australian Performing Right Association as the Children’s Song of the Year in 1993 following a season at Tumbalong Park, Darling Harbour for the Festival of Sydney 1993.
