The Funky Zoo
The Funky Zoo is an Australian musical. It premiered at the Bondi Pavilion Theatre in 1992.[1] The full repertoire of songs is by Ken Stewart and Phil Paviour. The story follows the dreaming adventure of a little girl concerned about the welfare of the animals in the zoo after a visit that day with her father. The environmental theme suggests that the animals are safer in the zoo than in their natural habitats. The song ‘Funky Zoo’ – music and lyrics by Ken Stewart – was nominated by the Australian Performing Right Association as the Children’s Song of the Year in 1993 following a season at Tumbalong Park, Darling Harbour for the Festival of Sydney 1993.
