The Gaylien is a 2021 British independent comedy film starring The Silly Egg Massif who were comprised of DD, Zach Nuts, Luna Tick, Sage P. Ending and Jaiden B. Ingus at the time, along with producers Eggler Starr and Ryn who did not appear in the film. Based on a screenplay by Zach Nuts and written & directed by Luna Tick, the film released worldwide on 11 July, 2021 as part of the Mumkey Jones Film Festival. On August 22, a Blu-ray release was announced.
Plot[edit]
A gay alien (Sage P. Ending) lands in the UK on their mothership and joins a group of teenagers' zoom call. After introducing themself and their plans, the Gaylien checks that they're alone and then tells the teenagers that the alien overlord Lord Metal is homophobic and abuses the Gaylien for being gay. Lord Metal then joins the zoom call and has a yo mama joke battle against the cast to which he loses and presumably dies. The Gaylien escapes to mothership and runs to Jaiden's house while an alarm goes off.

Production[edit]
First round of production[edit]
The first round of production began in on June 9, 2021 after the group heard about the Mumkey Jones film festival. Production didn't get far due to the heat on the day and production was postponed until early July after they found out the entry date was July 11 instead of June 11 as they originally read it. The version of the film shot on this day is set to be a bonus feature on the film's blu-ray.
Second round of production[edit]
Production was set to begin on July 8, 2021 but the group had to self-isolate on that date so the story was re-written to be set on a zoom call. Not requiring the cast to leave their house. Zach Nuts wrote the original screenplay and Luna Tick wrote the final script. Each actor filmed their lines individually and sent them back to Luna Tick.
The film had been completed when Luna Tick's hard drive containing the film and all of the raw footage corrupted on July 10, 2021. The film's release was cancelled until she found a rough cut on her Google Drive. Using the rest of the raw footage sent from the cast and having to re-record some of her scenes, Luna re-edited the final part of the film that wasn't present in the rough cut.
Release[edit]
The Gaylien premiered on July 10, 2021 before being released digitally on July 11, 2021.
Reception[edit]
The film received mixed reviews from critics but was praised for the cast's ability to adapt to the restrictions of being in self-isolation and music by Charlotte Cook. Zera Starcat, producer of CKY, gave the film a five stars. The results of the Mumkey Jones film festival have yet to be announced.
