The Gglitch
The Gglitch is a musical band that was founded in Ames, Iowa in 1998. The original band consisted of Brian Cretzmeyer (keyboards, songwriter, backing vocals), Otar Taktakishvili (vocals, guitar, songwriter), Ty Byerly (vocals, electric dulcimer, songwriter), Casey Coppi (Bass), Scott Wharton (drums) and Tim Brown (drums).
The band started practicing together in Ames where Brian Cretzmeyer was going to college. Some of the early original songs written by the Gglitch included Pirelli Fratelli, Bang Bang the Chicken Hole, Fresh Corn, 25 years, Tinfoil Blues, Istanbulshit, Casey's Tune.
The band started having avid followers from early on due to their unusual delivery of humerous songs, unique stage presence, and high energy.
Soon after Brian Cretzmeyer moved to Iowa City to attend the University of Iowa in 2000, other band mates followed, including Ty Byerly and Casey Coppi. At this time, a new drummer Jos Foley started to play with the band.
They established residence at a farm house of Jerry Hotz in Utah avenue near Lonetree Iowa. The band started to expand their repertoire to include many new songs including Texas diamond Rio, Hard Liquor, Thank you for Everything, Fat Cow Girl, Bush King, Knifey Spooney.
The band started to regularly perform at various Iowa City venues including the Green Room, the Mill, the IC Yacht Club, Q-bar.
