The Inner Circle is a villainous professional wrestling stable formed in American professional wrestling promotion All Elite Wrestling (AEW) which is led by the AEW World Champion Chris Jericho and consists of Jake Hager, Sammy Guevara, Santana and Ortiz.
History[edit]
At AEW All Out, Chris Jericho won the AEW World Championship and became the first champion after defeating Adam Page.[1]Chris Jericho went on to celebrate with "a little bit of the bubbly". At the same night, Santana and Ortiz made their AEW debut by attacking The Young Bucks and Lucha Brothers.[2] On the first episode of Dynamite, Jake Hager made his AEW debut by helping Jericho and Santana and Ortiz by attacking The Young Bucks and Cody Rhodes, thus forming The Inner Circle along with Sammy Guevara.[3] The group established themselves as the top villainous group to feud with the company's top fan-favorite group The Elite.
At Full Gear, Santana and Ortiz defeated the Young Bucks while Jericho defeated Cody to retain the World Championship after Cody's ally MJF threw in the towel thus giving up the match on Cody's behalf. As a result of a pre-match stipulation, Cody would not be able to challenge for the title again.
