The Tramp runs away from the boring, overprotective Uptown district of New York City and meets a robot dog named Chaplin in Downtown.

On May 16, 2017, it was reported that Christian Volckman and Rupert Wyatt will co-direct FilmNation Entertainment’s animated sci-fi retelling “The Kid: An Animated Adventure,” from a script he co-wrote with Wyatt and Boris Starling with Wyatt producing with Super Productions’ Clément Calvet and Jérémie Fajner, Bidibul Productions’ Lilian Eche and Christel Henon, and Big Beach’s Peter Saraf and Josh Cohen and Charlie Chaplin’s estate. On May 2, 2019, Wyatt will not direct the movie.
On May 2, 2019, it was reported that Jacob Tremblay would voice The Tramp in the film.
