The Lo Fibre Companion is a 1998 compilation album composed of new as well as previously released music from Justin Broadrick's short lived electronic record label Lo Fibre. The majority of the projects featured are Broadrick one-off solo and collaboration acts. Of these, only Solaris B.C. and Krackhead ever saw a full length release, in the form of digital-only releases on his main label Avalanche Recordings in 2009, titled Submerged Technology and From Hell respectively.

The compilation is notable in that it showcases Broadrick's earliest pursuits in beat-driven electronic music, which he would later expand on under the JK Flesh moniker.

History[edit]

During Lo Fibre's short existence 4 EPs were released: two untitled EPs by Broadrick's Solaris, Implant EP - a collaboration with Techno Animal's Kevin Martin - and Jazzless by Hydrus (also known as DJ The Neck). Two more EPs were planned but never released, one of them presumably a split EP by Saskwatch and Krackhead. Both of those were Broadrick projects, the former with Diarmuid Dalton and Cable Regime's Steve Hough and the latter being Broadrick solo. Dalton would later work with Broadrick on Jesu and Council Estate Electronics.

While the first disc of The Lo Fibre Companion is mostly new material, the second disc consists of reworkings of selected tracks from the aforementioned EPs. Broadrick's longest standing project, the ambient Final, also makes an appearance on the exclusive track "Sticks & Stones". Martin's contribution "Low Rider" would be released as a single the following year.
