The Loadout is an online video game website dedicated to the competitive gaming, esports, and streaming world.[1]. It was launched in October 2019 by a small Network N team led by editor Jessica Wells.[2] The Loadout's launch marked the first time Network N had launched a new site since PCGamesN in June 2012. [3] It now has several sister sites, including Wargamer, The Digital Fix, and Pocket Tactics [4]
Since its launch, The Loadout has made a number of hires. One notable hire includes Joe Apsey from PlayStation Universe, marking The Loadout's first real movement towards console coverage.[5]
In December 2019, editor Jessica Wells appeared as a guest on the BBC Radio 5 Live show, Game On. There she talked about Game of the Year awards, esports, and more[6].
On October 6, 2020, The Loadout was revealed to be one of 34 media partners to have worked with Google on the launch of Web Stories[7] [8]
On October 9, 2020, editor Jessica Wells was shortlisted for Journalist of the Year at the MCV/DEVELOP Women in Games Awards.[9] [10]
