The Log of a Cowboy[edit]
The Log of a Cowboy is a 1903 western fiction novel written by author Andy Adams. As Adams' debut novel, it is known as giving one of the most authentic recounts of the nature of the cowboy lifestyle.[1] The novel's recount was considered so realistic in fact, that several historians considered the book to be a reputable source of a cowboy's life.[2]
Background[edit]
Much of the narrative's background comes from Adams' personal experience driving cattle. He helped manage cattle and horses as a boy on his family farm and later drove cattle through the Western Plains.
