The Lupulin Exchange
The Lupulin Exchange (LEx) is a B2B marketplace for hops. Craft Brewing Business profiled the platform in 2017 and described it as "the StubHub of hops,"[1] and the Brewing Industry Guide covered it in 2020 in an article about buying and selling hops.[2] The company was founded in 2014 by John Bryce, who serves as President and CEO.[2] LEx has also been profiled by Virginia Tech Magazine (2018) and PYMNTS (2017).[3][4] A 2018 Virginia Tech Magazine feature described LEx as an "online secondary market for hops that experts say has revolutionized the industry."[3]
In 2018, the Financial Times cited LEx while reporting on changes in the hop market; Forbes likewise referenced the Lupulin Exchange by name, noting a large volume of listings on the platform’s secondary market.[5][6] In 2020, writers at Good Beer Hunting and the Brewers Association discussed marketplace data from LEx.[7][8] University extension publications have also referred to the site in market guidance or analysis, including a Michigan State University Extension presentation (2020),[9] a University of Tennessee Extension guide (2023),[10] and a University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture analysis (2022).[11]
In September 2025, The Drinks Business and Vinetur reported that LEx and Yakima Chief Hops announced a collaboration to launch the marketplace in Europe.[12][13][14]
