The Manhattan 2 Project is a non-profit corporation (501c3) whose mission is to solve the climate change problem.[1] It does this with a combination of science, engineering, and market strategy. The organization was founded by Glenn Weinreb and Victor Colantonio in 2019; and is based in Cambridge, MA. All documents at the Manhattan2.org website are governed under the creative commons license, which means anyone can copy and modify at no charge.

Global Decarbonization Plan[edit]

Manhattan 2's Global Decarbonization Plan describes how the US Government can decarbonize by developing factories that mass produce green energy production equipment. Factory automation drives down the price of green energy to a level below carbon-based fuels, which causes consumers worldwide to go green, to save money. The designs of the factories are given way for free, to facilitate global decarbonization. The US gives instead of sells for selfish reasons -- it does not want harm to come to its shores due to climate change.

The 10ppm R&D Pledge[edit]

Manhattan 2's 10ppm R&D Pledge provides a framework for countries to allocate 10 parts-per-million of their GDP for R&D that reduces CO2 emissions. This money supports six R&D funds in each country, managed by each participant. Fund #1 is money that goes to deans of engineering to support R&D that reduces climate change. The US has 130 research universities with 130 deans, which could be funded to any level by the US gov't. Fund #2 goes to directors of scientific research at universities, for science instead of engineering. Fund #3 is controlled by former secretaries of energy for R&D that reduces climate change. Fund #4 is controlled by venture capitalists who use it to develop technology needed by business plans to create products that reduce climate change. The VC's get the same access as everyone else to the developed technology. Fund #5 explores ways of decarbonizing the entire planet. And fund #6 develops large energy systems.

Research and Development Initiatives[edit]

Manhattan 2 supports research and development in several areas that reduce CO2 emissions.

  • Smart Building Initiative develops the smart building of the future by placing a processor into all building devices and network them together with reliable wired communication.[2]
  • Solar Skins Initiative develops solar materials that attach directly to building surfaces.
  • Solar Direct to Soil Initiative develops solar materials that are placed directly onto soil.
  • Window Thermal Cover Initiative develops motorized thermal covers embedded in wall
  • Next Generation HVAC Initiative develops standardized plug-and-play modules that provide additional control over air in a building.
  • Automated Articulating Arm Initiative develops truck mounted articulating arm components that support construction and upgrades that reduce CO2.
  • Automated Marketplace Initiative develops website-based automated market places that support construction and upgrade projects that reduce CO2.
  • Automated Data Access Initiative automates the collection of building data. In order to automate building construction and upgrade projects, software is written that collects, maintains and coordinates architectural drawings, laser scans of existing structures, photography, and ground penetrating radar data.
  • Big Solar Architecture Initiative explores ways of providing large surfaces for solar, on and around a building.
  • Energy Core Initiative explores ways of consolidating additional building complexity into factory made modules that drop in via crane.
  • Automated Ground Source Installation Initiative develops automated systems for installing ground source piping.
  • Swappable Electric Vehicle Battery Initiative develops develop swappable electric vehicle battery and support systems.
