The Marsh King's Daughter is an upcoming thriller film directed by Neil Burger from a screenplay by Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith, that was based on the novel of the same name by Karen Dionne. It stars Daisy Ridley and Ben Mendelsohn.
Produced by Anonymous Content and Black Bear Pictures, it is set to be distributed worldwide by ErosSTX.
Premise[edit]
A woman who was abducted when she was young along with her mother is forced to confront her past after her infamous father escapes from prison.

Production[edit]
The project was announced in February 2018, with Elle Smith and Mark L. Smith writing the screenplay for director Morten Tyldum. Alicia Vikander was cast in the lead role, and was also set to serve as an executive producer.[1]
Filming was due to begin in late July 2019, and continue through Autumn,[2] but no further developments were announced until February 2021, with Tyldum and Vikander no longer involved in the film. Neil Burger was now direting with Daisy Ridley cast to star.[3] In May, Ben Mendelsohn joined the cast.[4] In June 2021, Brooklynn Prince, Gil Birmingham, and Caren Pistorius joined the cast of the film.[5]
Filming began on June 7, 2021 in Ontario, Canada.[6][7] German cinematographer Alwin H. Küchler was later announced to be the film's director of photography.[8]
