The Mobile Shop[1] is a Canadian chain of mobile-phone retail locations owned by supermarket chain Loblaws Inc.[2] Part of PC Telecom, which is also comprised of PC Mobile, Loblaw’s white label prepaid wireless service, there are 182 The Mobile Shop locations in grocery stores across Canada. [3].

The Mobile Shop offers mobile handsets from many mobile service providers and customers can earn loyalty points through the PC Optimum program that is available in Loblaw-owned supermarkets, Shoppers Drug Mart pharmacy stores, Esso and Mobil gas stations. Employees of The Mobile Shop are called Mobilists and are promoted by the brand as mobile phone and service provider experts using the slogan “Mobilists do mobile differently.”

History

Announced in 2010, The Mobile Shop launched alongside prepaid cellphone kiosks. The Mobile Shop offering consumers cell phones and service plans from multiple Canadian mobile service providers.[4] While PC Mobile still operates a pre-paid mobile service through Bell Mobility[5], its postpaid, monthly service was transferred to Koodo Mobile in October of 2018. The Mobile Shop sells phones and plans from Canada’s Big Three mobile network operators, Bell, Rogers Wireless[7] and Telus, as well as smaller and regional networks, like Public Mobile,[8], Koodo, Virgin, Fido and Freedom Mobile.
