History[edit]

The Musical Stage Company (formerly known as Acting Up Stage Company[2]) is the largest and leading charitable[3] musical theatre company in Canada. It was founded in 2004 by Artistic & Managing director Mitchell Marcus with the goal of rejuvenating the musical theatre form in Toronto[4].

Since their expansion in 2017 [5], The Musical Stage Company declared it's commitment to make Canada a leader in musical theatre by creating original musicals that break new ground, reach thousands more Torontonians with diverse and relevant musical stories, and expand nationally and internationally, promoting the work of Canadian musical artists and our homegrown stories across borders. [6]

Programming[edit]

The Musical Stage Company brings contemporary musical theatre work to Toronto[7], develops new Canadian musicals and artists[8][9], and helps create artists & audiences of tomorrow through various free youth programs[10][11].
