The Next Round is a syndicated sports talk show hosted by Jim Dunaway, Ryan Brown, Lance Taylor and Sean "Rockstar" Heninger broadcast out of Birmingham, AL. The show previously aired on WJOX-FM under the name "Jox Roundtable" before the show's departure from WJOX in June 2021.

The show features commentary on the day's sports news, perspective on other news stories, interviews with sports analysts and athletes, as well as pop culture.

History[edit]

Originally called the Roundtable on WJOX-FM, The Next Round has been on in one form or another for over 20 years. Lance Taylor hosted the Roundtable with a number of partners before Dunaway and Brown joined the show after hosting their own show on WJOX (AM).

In June of 2021, all four members of the show left WJOX[1] to start their own venture and carry the show to a digital platform where they could control every aspect of the show.[2] They formed DBL Down Media (DBL standing for Dunaway, Brown, LT) with Lance's brother Reade Taylor, Jon Lunceford and David Walls.

The show airs each day live from 9 am - 1 pm on a variety of platforms including YouTube, Twitch and more and an audio version airs on TuneIn and their own mobile app which is available on iOS and Android. The show is then podcasted on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and more and features a host of content around the show as well.

Cast[edit]

The three hosts regularly interact with Rockstar who is the lead producer along with Jon Lunceford and Scott Forester. Jon Lunceford is the former host of Jox Primetime on WJOX and he also left with the team in June 2021 to start DBL Down Media and The Next Round where he serves as operations manager and as a show producer.[3] Scott Forester previously worked with ABC 33/40 as a videographer before joining The Next Round as the director of video content.
