The Recess (Persian: زنگ تفریح) is a short film directed and written by Navid Nikkhah Azad, dedicated to Sahar Khodayari known as Blue Girl in Iran.[1][2][3][4][5] This short film is a co-production of Iran and Spain.[6]

The Recess is one of the most successful short films of recent years in Iranian cinema. It has been screened in more than 160 international film festivals[7], including an Academy Award qualifying festival[8], FIAPF-accredited festivals[9][10], and Goya Awards qualifying festivals, and has won 31 awards.

In 2022, The Recess was awarded the Best Film in the Sports and Society section of the 6th Beausoleil Côte d’Azur International FICTS Festival du Cinéma Sportif[11] in France, and was selected as a finalist in the World FICTS Challenge of SPORT MOVIES & TV (2022)[12]—the Worldwide Championship of Cinema, Television and Sport Culture, organized in 16 festivals across five continents.
