The Ron Burgundy Podcast is a free audio and video podcast hosted by American comedian and actor Will Ferrell. Will Ferrell reprises his role as Ron Burgundy in the Ron Burgundy Podcast. The first episode of the show launched on February 7, 2019, on iHeart Radio[1]. It has become a popular podcast, known for its comedic take on many different subjects.[2]

The shows host, Will Ferrell, plays the fictional character of Ron Burgundy, the news anchorman from the movie series The Anchorman. He hosts the show together with his co-host and assistant Carolina Barlow.

Content[edit]

In true Ron Burgundy fashion, Will Ferrell participates in a series of humoristic dialogues with his guests about many different subjects, and these conversations often have a tendency to go off the rails.[3]The Ron Burgundy character is notorious for his view on several subjects and his knowledge and facts.[4] He once said: "San Diego, discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means 'a whale's vagina'".[5] Will Ferrell carries this character and together with Carolina Barlow they take on both relevant and less relevant issues.

In the first two seasons of the show, the podcast has hosted several notable guests, including Gloria Steinem, Dillon Francis, Clayton Kershaw, Doris Kearns Goodwin, Vinne Dotolo and Jon Shook.

Accolades[edit]

The podcast has been featured on Podtracs industry ranking, at the top seventh spot.[2] It was nominated as the Best Podcast of the Year, by listeners, and it was also nominated as the Best Comedy Podcast at the 2020 iHeartRadio Podcast Awards.
