The She Series
The She Series is an upcoming book based on a series of artwork created by artist and illustrator Karen Hallion which features notable real and fictional women.
Book
The book was launched through Kickstarter on July 13, 2021 and has an expected print date of 2022.
Original Art Series
Each of the portraits features the subject in profile on the left side, with a word written going down the right side. These words are always verbs which Hallion describes as "action words" – each one can be read as "she __s" ("she defends," "she persists," etc). The first piece, created in 2018, featured Leia from Star Wars with the word "rebel".
He Series
The She Series was expanded to include eleven "He" artworks – all 11 are 20th century male figures ranging from artists to chefs to presidents.
Pandemic Heroes
Another series in the same style was created in 2020 to feature "Pandemic Heroes." Some were generic figures, but many were based off real people chosen through submission on Hallion's Website [1]
