The Spoon is a food technology media and events company.[1]. The Spoon was started by long-time analyst and journalist Michael Wolf in Edmonds, Washington after the success of the Smart Kitchen Summit.
History[edit]
The Spoon founder Michael Wolf built a community in the emerging food tech market with the launch the Smart Kitchen Summit in 2015. [2].
Based on the success of the Smart Kitchen Summit[3] and his background as an executive at highly influential technology blog Gigaom [4] Wolf decided to launch The Spoon in October 2016. [5]
The Spoon has broke numerous stories about the nascent food tech market, including Impossible Foods research into whole-cut meats[6]and the bankruptcy and liquidation of beer brewing technology startup PicoBrew.[7]
In January 2022, The Spoon partnered with the Consumer Electronics Show, North America's biggest technology conference, to create the CES Food Tech Conference.[8] The launch of the conference marked the first time CES had formally featured food technology as one of its core focus areas. [9] The Food Tech Conference at CES was expanded in 2023 to a full day.[10]
