The Spoons[edit]
The Spoons were a garage punk rock band from Pula, Croatia, active in late 1980’s and 1990's. (Not to be confused with Canadian synth rock band of the same name Spoons (band)). Decision to sing in English language and to play garage rock enabled them to play outside former Yugoslavia, but was a kind of a drawback for domestic audience unaccustomed to that musical genre.

History[edit]
The Spoons were formed in late 1987 by the members of former new wave-power pop-protopunk band Visoki Napon (High Voltage) active in 1978-80 consisting of Doriano Licul, Ivica Kovačević and Romeo Đomlija with added new singer Brunetto Subiotto.
They quickly gained a following after releasing cassette "Take the World as It Comes" for then only indie label in Croatia Listen Loudest in 1988. First vinyl LP "Voxin'" recorded in September of 1990. was released in April 1991. to a great critical acclaim. With added keyboard player Suzana Đomlija (Vox Continental organ), soon numerous gigs followed, but everything came to a halt with the start of Yugoslav Wars.
Brunetto Subiotto left the band and relocate to neighboring Slovenia, while the rest of the band recorded a second LP "Web of Fuzz" with new singer Jim Lalock. After the break-up of Yugoslavia, the band played mostly in western parts of Croatia, in Slovenia and in some European countries like Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Netherlands and Germany.
They recorded next album “Supervoxin'" with the addition of a new singer Damir Bačac-Beli.
The Album was released in 1996 for Slovenian label Nika Records.
Due to internal conflicts and tensions band ceases to exist in that line up and was reformed with new drummer Slaven Brajković in 1997. Soon, they took a tour of the Netherlands and set to record their next album "Here are The Spoons" which marked their return to 1960’s R'n'B influences and was well received by critics and fans. It turns out to be their last album as well. The Spoons disbanded in the winter of 2001. Brunetto Subiotto died in 2016, Doriano Licul died in 2017, and Ivica Kovačević died in 2021.
Romeo and Suzana Đomlija went to form a new band Regenn in 2022.
