The Square Rockville
The Square (formerly known as Rockville Town Square) is owned and managed by Morguard North American Residential REIT.[1], featuring over 35 retail and dining spots, free community events, festivals, live music performances, and more[1]. Located within Rockville Town Center, The Square is bordered by Hungerford Dr (MD-355), E. Middle Ln, N. Washington St, and Beall Ave.
History
Federal Realty Investment Trust developed Rockville Town Square in 2007 to replace the Rockville Shopping Mall as part of the "Rockville Center" project[2].
Morguard purchased Fenestra Apartments, the residential apartments located above The Square, in 2017 and officially took over the retail portion of The Square in 2022[3]
Formerly known as Rockville Town Square, the shopping center was renamed "The Square" as part of Morguard's rebrand and revitalize project in 2025. Due to confusion about the difference between Rockville Town Square and Rockville Town Center, the new name aims to clarify the distinction[4]. The Square is located within the bounds of Rockville Town Center, featuring the stage, interactive splash pad, artificial turf, and ice skating rink as main attractions.
