The Stockholm School of Entrepreneurship is an educational organization and interdisciplinary platform for academic institutions in Sweden, including Karolinska Institute, Stockholm School of Economics, and Stockholm University, among others.[3] Founded in 1999, it is an active collaborative project for supplementing students with business and economic education in addition to major graduation programs.[4]

Overview[edit]

The Stockholm School of Entrepreneurship (also known as SSES) was established in 1999,[4] and is a result of a joint project of the major Swedish academic institutions[1][2] and their corresponding divisions:

  • House of Innovation at Stockholm School of Economics[5]
  • Konstfack, the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design[7]
  • Department of Bio-Entrepreneurship at Karolinska Institute[8]

Accreditation[edit]

All SSES courses are in the framework of the establishing institutions and are accredited by the National Agency for Higher Education in Sweden.[7]

Organization and structure[edit]

Among the main areas of activity for SSES are academic courses and extracurricular activities.

The program is funded by the Erling-Persson Family Foundation, backed by Stefan Persson (magnate).[5][9]

Academics and admissions[edit]

The curriculum includes academic courses at the MSc and PhD level. Core courses include ideation, planning, execution and growth. The school previously ran pre-incubators and start-up accelerators.[10][11] The courses and workshops are taught in English and complement one's Major studies.[3] Courses eligibility and admissions requirements vary and depend on particular institution program. For example, at Stockholm University, the students are required to have at least 120 higher education credits and be admitted to a Master Program or Bachelor program Global Management, Bachelor's program in International Business and Politics.[3][12]
