TheStradman (sometimes stylized as Stradman or Strad) is a name of a video blog channel on Youtube. TheStradman is also the name by which the creator and host of the channel, James Lucas Condon, refers to himself in his content. The name stems from the dream car of James, the 2004 Ferrari Challenge Stradale..[1][2].[3][4][5][6]

The channel focusses on high end vehicles, such as supercars, hypercars, pick-up trucks and Sports utility vehicles (SUV's). When James joined Youtube, on July 27th 2012, the first video posted (identically named) was of a Ferrari Dino 246 GTS[7]. Since the start of his channel, James had managed to amass a following of 3,05 million subscribers and 666.967.596 views[8] (February 18th, 2021). By the proceeds of his channel, James has purchased, modified and sold several sports cars, sports utility vehicles and supercars. Also he has started a business selling TheStradman-branded merchandise[9]. His most popular posted video was 'The Best Hypercars of Monterey Car Week! Vision GT, Agera XS, Regera, Centenario, LaFerrari', which amassed almost 25 million views[10].

James currently resides in Bluffdale, Utah with his Samoyed Oskar, where, after renting a room in the house owned by his best friend and fellow Youtuber Nick 'Burlacher' Buroker for five years, he is currently renting a house nearby and a warehouse, which he uses for storing and customizing his verhicles. He is currently in the process of building his dream house at a 3,7 acre plot of land in Utah, which he purchased in 2020.[11].[12]

James Condon[edit]

James Lucas Condon was born on May 7th, 1989 in Oregon (USA). He graduated from Oregon State University in 2011, earning him a degree in Accounting and Finance[13]. At the time he drove a red 2002 Audi TT, which he later used to live in while chasing his dream of growing his Youtube channel by spotting special cars in Beverly Hills. When he moved to Park City, Utah he found work as a job cost accountant at the Montage Hotel in Park City, Utah, working under his manager and later friend, Nick 'Burlacher' Buroker. With his newly acquired steady income he was first able to purchase a Lotus Elise and later a 2006 Lamborghini Gallardo. He started posting video blogs about his life with a these vehicles, which gained him a larger following on Youtube. This gave him the chance to upgrade his Gallardo, of which he made new videos.[14][15]

Youtube[edit]

After he got fired due to costcutting measures, he decided to chase his dream of filming and posting videos fulltime. By making videos of his Lamborghini Gallardo he gained a growing following on Youtube. He distinguished himself from other Youtubers by making videos of him doing unconventional things with his Lamborghini. He, for instance, mounted all-season tires and drove the Gallardo through the snow- and ice-covered mountains of Utah. Also he camped in his car, decided to ski behind it and mount a ski box on the roof. This caused him and his channel to stand out, which gained him even more online followers[16][17][18][19]. Beside filming videos with his own vehicles, he continues to make content involving car spotting. James has attended to multiple deliveries of exotic and rare vehicles such as a Lamborghini Sian[20], a Bugatti Divo[21][22][23], a Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport[24] and a Bugatti Vision Granturismo[25][26] and he has traveled around the world to create content, such as Germany, Monaco, Dubai and China. Besides the revenue he obtained with the views on his Youtube channel, the videos contain advertisements, sponsorships from several brands and product endorsements.[27]

Relations[edit]

James has lived with his best friend Nick 'Burlacher' Buroker and his wife.[28] James posts videos of him spending time with several other Youtubers regularly, such as Nick, Clayton and Faith Stark (Summit Auto Lab), Stefan Lewis (Automotive photographer and videographer for 80Eighty), Luke Terry, Johnny Sharp (who took recent ownership of a 2021 Toyota Supra), Tim Burton (Shmee150), the Diesel Brothers and The Triple F Collection [29].

Current vehicles[edit]

James currently owns 14 vehicles, which he regularly modifies with aftermarket performance parts, vinyl wraps and cosmetic upgrades.

  • 2013 Bugatti Veyron 16.4, purchased in 2020, currently wrapped in a purple/white scheme (KPMF Matte Iced Amethist Titanium) by Summit Auto Lab and fitted with a high perfomance exhaust from Ryft. Due to the inflation in the car industry, James announced on the 31st of May 2021, that he has listed the Veyron for sale on eBay, however since the auction did not end in a sale, he decided to withhold selling the Veyron. [30][31][32]
  • 2012 Lamborghini Aventador, purchased in 2018, currently wrapped in blue (KPMF Matte Iced Blue Titanium), though fitted with a high perfomance exhaust from Frequency Intelligence, a carbon-fibre hood and bodykit, a custom steering wheel and a multitude of other modifications.[34]
  • 2020 Tesla Model 3 Perfomance, purchased in 2021. Since James had his Shelby Baha Raptor mounted with a high perfomance exhaust, he didn't have a vehicle designated for his dog Oskar. In August of 2021, James announced he was selling the Model 3.
  • 2018 Shelby Baha Raptor, purchased in 2020, originally as a replacement vehicle for his dog Oskar. Currently wrapped in white/purple (KPMF Matte Iced Amethist Titanium) scheme by Summit Auto Lab, fitted with a centre-dump high perfomance exhaust and a custom steering wheel.
  • 2006 Lamborghini Gallardo, purchased in 2015, currently under construction at B-Rogue Built, who are installing a twin-turbo set up and re-building the engine. The Lamborghini Gallardo was the car that caused the Youtube channel to seriously expand. James made videos of the car itself, but also of the background, how much it cost to own, maintain and modify it[38]
  • 2021 Chevrolet Corvette C8, purchased in 2021 in Ohio, currently unmodified, however James has a widebody kit available for the C8, which he plans on fitting in 2021.
  • McLaren MP4-12C, purchased in 2021, currently undergoing a engine rebuild after which it will be listed for sale.
  • Smart car, which James bought with Nick 'Burlacher' Buroker. Together they plan to modify the car and give it away. Currently it is wrapped in purple (KPMF Matte Iced Amethist Titanium) and fittes with a louder exhaust.
  • 2021 Polaris RZR XP4 PRO, purchased in 2021. On the first drive, James drove too fast around a corner on a dirt road and flipped the vehicle. At the moment of the crash, the vehicle only had 17 miles on the odometer.

Previously owned vehicles[edit]

Beside his current vehicles he has previously owned 13 high end cars and trucks.

  • 2002 Audi TT, which was his first car. Before his Youtube career took off, he spent 6 months sleeping in this Audi TT, while filming videos on passing high value cars on the streets of Beverly Hills. The Audi broke down while he was living in it, causing him to push it around Beverly Hills while saving money to pay for the replacement part, which he installed himself[39]
  • 2005 Lotus Elise, which was his first higher value sports car. The Lotus Elise caused James' channel to collect more views due to the fact that James started filming videos in a more vlog style, instead of car spotting videos.
  • 2020 Toyota Supra J29/DB, which James modified heavily. He had the car wrapped in purple (KPMF Matte Iced Amethist Titanium), placed on airbag suspension, and had custom wheels mounted. Also he fitted a Rocket Bunny widebody kit, high performance exhaust, and multiple other modifications. The car was subsequently featured on the 2019 SEMA mainstage[40][41]. In 2020 he sold his 2020 Toyota Supra to Jeffree Star.
  • McLaren 570S, nicknamed the 'BabyMac', the McLaren 570S was modified and subsequently given away by James, in collaboration with Makes and Models, a car dealership in Salt Lake City, Utah.
  • 2005 Ford GT, which James bought sight unseen in Hawaii. He had Frequency Intelligence develop a custom high perfomance exhaust for the GT.
  • 2017 Ford Focus RS, which James bought as his daily driving car, specially for his Samoyed puppy Oskar, who was frightened by the loud exhausts of the other cars. After James fitted the RS with an aftermarket exhaust, Oskar was no longer able to withstand riding in the RS, causing James to sell the car. As a replacement James bought a Shelby Baha Raptor, which he eventually fitted with another high perfomance exhaust. Therefore in 2021 he bought a Tesla Model 3 Perfomance for Oskar.
  • 2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8, which James ordered soon after it going on sale. Therefore, he was an early owner of the 'new' Corvette. He made the decision to sell the car in his pursuit to own a hypercar. However, in 2021 James purchased another C8 Corvette, due to the fact he had a great liking towards the car.[42]

Notable[edit]

Since James started filming his daily life, he has made some notable videos. In 2017, he made a video om himself and friends skiing, snowboarding and tubing behind his Lamborghini Gallardo in the mountains of Utah.[43] In 2018, he decided he would drive his Audi R8 on unpaved roads, after which the car got stuck in a ditch.[44] In 2019, he again decided to offroad some of his supercars.[45] In 2020, he and Shmee150 made a similar video in which Tim Burton tried skiing behind James' Lamborghini Aventador.[46] In 2021, James and the Diesel Brothers fitted the 2012 Lamborghini Aventador with custom-made snow tracks with which they drove through deep snow in the mountains of Utah.[47][48][49][50].[51][52][53][50] In 2021, James, Stefan Lewis and Luke Terry held a dragrace inside the Provo Towne Centre with James' Bugatti Veyron, Stefan's Nissan GTR and Luke's Mercedes-AMG[54][55].[56][57]
