The Taste of Relations is a family drama/thriller film directed and produced by Mukesh Asopa, a Canadian director and producer.[1][2] It was released in 2009 by Asopa Film Incorporation and Twinkle Productions.[3] It is the second film from the Canadian-based Asopa Films Incorporation, Twinkle Productions and Asopa Films International.[4] The first was Aisha and Rahul.

The Taste of Relation revolves around an Indian family living in Canada.[5] It exemplifies the misfortunes and joyful times of the family, along with exploring the themes of family values and loss.[6] This film is a culmination of western culture and eastern values highlighting sacrifice and a lesson for the younger generation.[7]

The Taste of Relation won the Van Gogh Award for Cinematography at the Amsterdam Film Festival in 2010 and Special Jury Award at the California Film Awards.[8] The film earned global acclaim at several international festivals.[9]

Plot[edit]

Raj, John, and Cathrine, children of Ram Nandi, an entrepreneur based in Canada, live as a happy family until financial adversities strike due to Raj’s reckless business decisions, causing emotional turmoil amongst the family members.[10]

As a family drama, The Taste of Relation highlights the power of love and family values with the added themes of religion, culture, drama, business, love and sacrifice.[11] It shows how circumstances can separate relatives and how brave acts of love can bring them back together.
