The The Telegram is a twice a week newspaper in Jackson, Ohio, United States. It publishes every Wednesday, and Saturday. Owned by Jackson County Broadcasting, Inc., it is the sole non-daily newspaper in Jackson, Ohio and is distributed throughout Jackson, and Vinton Counties, Ohio. The newspaper's coverage focuses on local news.

History[edit]

The Telegram has been locally owned since its start in the 1880's. The newspaper began as The Coalton Times, then the owners moved it to the City of Wellston and it became The Wellston Republican, and then, in 1893, the name changed to The Wellston Telegram, a name it kept until the mid-1990's when it changed to just The Telegram to reflect a very solid two-county circulation.

Awards[edit]

The Telegram also has a long legacy of over 100 Osman C. Hooper Show awards from 2007 through 2022. These include being a five-time winner of the top honor called "Newspaper of the Year" in 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2014. The annual Osman C. Hooper Non-Daily Newspaper Competition honors non-daily newspapers in the state of Ohio.
