The Three Privileges
The Three Privileges is a fantasy adventure novel written by A.V.Davina. The first book for young adults in the series The Three Privileges.
The novel follows Nahuel Blest, a teenager who’s isolated and monotonous life takes an unexpected turn when an agent from the United Nations can finally spot his hiding place and invites him to become part of the Organization. In the mysterious underground floor of the UN Nahuel learns the power of privileges and its sacred connection to nature. Together with a group of young people from all over the world, he will be trained to discover and work their extraordinary skills, without knowing that he is a key player in an ancient, never-ending war. Nahuel must fight against the devastating forces of the Ignobles, and, on the way, discover who he is and what is the true story of his family.
Plot[edit]
Nahuel Blest, the protagonist, is a fourteen-year-old boy who is completely unaware of what fate has saved for him. When he was six, his father disappeared without any trace and his paternal grandfather went back to Argentina to take care of Nahuel and his distant mother. That was when Walter Blest decided the best for his grandchild was to leave the capital of Argentina and move to the confines of the planet.
Nahuel grew up in the city of Ushuaia, in the Argentine Patagonia, also known as “the end of the world.” During childhood, he lived isolated, friendless, and with a particularly difficult relationship with his mother. He would go down with several illnesses, during which times his senses heightened to later give way to high temperature and delirium. His grandfather always took good care of him during those moments of weakness.
Nahuel’s monotonous life takes an unexpected turn when an agent from the United Nations can finally spot his hiding place. The strange man summons him to become part of the prestigious Organization, where he will study at its Headquarters for twelve months. Quite reluctantly, Nahuel’s grandfather allows him to start the journey to New York. Once there, he settles at charming Ms Pennington’s residence, together with a select group of teenagers from all over the world.
The reasons why these teenagers believe they are the chosen ones are a far cry from reality. Nahuel and his classmates are different from any ordinary person. Their uniqueness lies on the fact that they have privileges. Nahuel is baffled at discovering that the rest of the teenagers have suffered from the same illnesses he has, and this is because they all have the cymm enzyme. This enzyme gives way to three types of privileged people, each type characterized by an extraordinary ability that allows them to interact with other living organisms.
Cymmens are those who can perceive frequencies and vibrations from the smallest living beings, microorganisms. This allows them, among other things, to make objects levitate, blow winds and move water. Cymters have the ability to manipulate the earth and what grows in it. They feel the vibrations of Nature, and because of this, they can cause earthquakes and affect the growth in plants, for example. Cymanis, Nahuel among them, are able to communicate and connect with animals as they can tune in their same frequency. At the same time, they can also develop the abilities of animals, and feel what they feel.
Four stories underground of the United Nations headquarters, these youngsters will receive their education. During the next months, Nahuel and his new friends, Isaline Fleury and Aremi Pierwiet, will learn to develop their skills through individual and collective training. They will also be taught on international security, serums, movement and transportation, botanical and animal communication, among other. They will get to realise the importance of á-bulas and talesmas, instruments with which the privileged can heighten their abilities and channel their energy. They will be put to the test during the Haznás, trials that will grow in complexity, and which take place in several outdoor settings.
The existence of the privileged society has been kept from the rest of humans for a long time, through the influence of international organizations, such as the United Nations. But this time, the Council of Privileges is dramatically challenged by a group of rebels, called the Ignobles, who are proud to show the world they are different, and who abuse the power of being privileged. After years of conflict, victory seems nearer for the Ignobles, as they get closer and closer to The Foundations of the Pact.

Critical Reception[edit]
«Narrative is clear, easy going and presented in short chapters (31), which results in a comfortable reading.
Two layers of narrative become the knot of the plot: one personal story -Nahuel Blest's, who is the protagonist. A wider plot -a secret society that has been watching, controlling, and protecting our civilization's destiny. Both layers are well woven and smoothly run along.
As a final thought: it is a story that allows a very concrete and well-built visualization. Not all texts have the virtue of creating images on what they narrate. Sometimes, texts can be obscure, opaque. Settings, characters, plotlines and story details are so well built they become a visual text. How can you tell? It is a book through which you can easily imagine the faces and scenes and situations which are being told. It is a text which is easily imaginable on a screen. Here lies the power of this story.
Finally, let's make it clear: reading this novel is the fourth privilege.» José María Busaniche.
