The Tyne (Band)

The Tyne is an indie pop band from the UK formed in 2019 and consisting of Cooper Stout, Ryan Lofthouse and Dan Porter. They currently have two songs: Pulling Me Down[1], co-written with Connor Ball from The Vamps and Whistle, co-written with New Hope Club which they played on tour. They are signed to Prestige Management currently.

Background

The three boys met each other over social media. The band formed in August 2019 but launched in September 2019 as they began supporting New Hope Club on their first official tour during the UK tour in September-October 2019. They supported New Hope Club on 8 shows consisting of Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham[2], Bristol, Leicester, London, Newcastle Upon Tyne and Liverpool. They performed their two songs, Pulling Me Down and Whistle along with two covers, Alright by Supergrass and If You Wanna by The Vaccines.

Before forming as a band Cooper had been featured in two CBBC shows, Got What It Takes[3] and Almost Never[4] [5]along with posing covers on Instagram and Youtube. Dan was posting covers[6] on his Instagram and Twitter almongst other things.[7][8] Ryan appeared on The Voice Kids[9] along with posting covers on Instagram. He performed at The Gala Theatre, Durham, as part of a Big Gig event, put on by Durham Music Service. The boys are currently uploading covers both individually and as a band on their socials.

Touring

The Tyne boys performed as a support for New Hope Club along with Denis Coleman[10]. They performed at 8 of the shows, performing three songs. They sang Alright and If You Wanna at every show but chose between Pulling Me Down and Whistle selectively.

The band has gained lots of loyal fans on social medias such as Instagram.[11]

Inspiration

The boys have been inspired by others to pursue a musical career. Dan’s inspiration is Steve Vai, Ryan’s inspiration is Danny Jones and Cooper’s inspiration is Matthew Murphy.

Members

The band consists of Cooper Stout, from the south of England, Ryan Lofthouse and Daniel Porter, both from the north of England. Cooper is the band's bassist and singer, Dan is the band’s lead guitarist and singer and Ryan is the band’s guitarist and singer. The three share the singing parts equally.
