The Winds That Scatter is a 2015 American film by Christopher Jason Bell. The title is a reference to Az-Záriyát from the Holy Quran.[1]

The film premiered at the Northside Festival, going on to also screen at SF Indie Fest and Dallas Video Fest. It was distributed by Means TV.[2]

Plot Summary

Ahmad, a Syrian immigrant saving up to run his own taxi service, runs into some trouble and loses his menial work as a gas station attendant. The bad luck compounds as he faces eviction and loss of friendship due to his economic precarity.

Reception

The Winds That Scatter received positive reviews during its festival run. At Hammer To Nail, Don Simpson called it a "skillfully maneuvered, minimalist meditation."[3] Film Pulse's Kevin Rakestraw described it as "the cinematic equivalent of walking a mile in another man’s shoes," and claimed it was "a necessity,"[4] marking it as one of their best films of 2015.[5]
