Bishop Theodore Feldmann

Theodore Edward Feldmann is an American Independent Catholic bishop with the Catholic Apostolic Church of Antioch. His website states,

"Most Rev. Theodore Feldmann was raised in the Presbyterian tradition in Pennsylvania. His paternal grandfather was a Lutheran pastor. Displaying an early interest in music, he began piano study at the age of 7 and study of the organ at age 15.  He entered the renowned Westminster Choir College, Princeton, New Jersey, and earned a Bachelor of Music degree with a concentration in church music and organ and a minor in voice.  He served as an organist and choirmaster in Episcopal parishes from 1969 through 1983, and in Roman Catholic parishes thereafter, gaining a reputation as a skilled choral director, pastoral minister and organist.

Having an interest in theology and spirituality, Theodore studied widely and earned graduate degrees in Creation Spirituality at Holy Names University, Oakland, CA, and in Pastoral Liturgy at Santa Clara University, CA. At the invitation of theologian, Matthew Fox, Theodore served on the faculty and staff of the Institute for Culture and Creation Spirituality from 1988-1993. He taught courses in music and singing as meditation.

After leaving ICCS, he continued his work as a church musician in Baltimore, Maryland, for another 20 years until his retirement. During that time he served four parishes in Archdiocese of Baltimore and was organist for the Archdiocesan Choir.

Theodore felt a life-long call to ordination yet he eventually realized he was seeking a different approach to ordination than that offered by the mainline denominations.  The answer came through conversations with two former students from Holy Names University, who urged him to investigate the Independent Sacramental Movement.  One of those students introduced him to the Catholic Apostolic Church of Antioch. After earning his degree from Sophia Divinity School, he was ordained a deacon and then ordained to the priesthood in Baltimore, MD, in 2007.  He was the founder/pastor of the Beloved Disciple Church of Antioch in Baltimore, an urban contemplative community, for seven years.   He was consecrated a bishop in the Independent Sacramental Movement in 2017.

Fr. Theodore is a musician, liturgist, spiritual director and teacher.  In addition to his study of creation spirituality and theology, he has studied Centering Prayer with monk and author, Basil Pennington, and the Enneagram personality types in intensive workshops with author, Don Richard Riso."
