Dr. Prudon is an architect, preservationist, architectural engineer, author, and educator. Prudon is an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University and at Pratt Institute. He is a co-founder of an initiative to rethink design practice and its education..[1]
Biography[edit]
Dr. Theodore Prudon was born in The Netherlands, trained as an architect in the United States (MSArch and Ph.D. from Columbia University) and The Netherlands (MSArchEng from the Delft Technical University).
Prudon is an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation, and has taught in Columbia’s Graduate Program for Historic Preservation since 1973;[2] he has been faculty since 1986 at the Pratt Institute School of Architecture, Graduate Center for Planning and the Environment. [3]
He is President of Docomomo US and serves on the Advisory Board of Docomomo International,[4] and a number of other professional, charitable and civic organizations such as World Monuments Fund, [5] and The James Marston Fitch Charitable Foundation. [6]
Prudon is the author of the book Preservation of Modern Architecture. The book was awarded the Lee H. Nelson Book Award from the Association for Preservation Technology International in Montreal, Canada, in 2009.[7] Doctor Prudon was awarded the Architecture Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 2016.[8]
