Thermoelectric cooling pipe

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

A Thermal Electric Cooling Pipe known as TEC Pipe is a device that cools smoke produced by the burning of cannabis, Tobacco, and other herbal substances.

In TEC Pipes, the cooling of the smoke is done without the smoke coming into contact with water or Ice. Instead, a Tec Pipe uses a combination of thermoelectric coolers (TEC), thermal conductivity, and phase transition from a heat pipe. Some TEC Pipes models do not use Heat pipes, but instead use water. The water in these models don’t cool the smoke, instead the water is used to cool the TEC module itself.

Definition[edit]

TEC Pipes, sometimes referred to as a smoke freezer pipe for the low temperatures used in the smoke cooling, are in response to a finding in a 2000 NORML - MAPS cannabis study that found "water pipes filter out more psychoactive THC than they do other tars, thereby requiring users to smoke more to reach their desired effect". In a TEC Pipe, the smoke enters from one side of the unit flows through the cooling chambers, and comes out cooler on the other side, Users report that the colder smoke from a TEC Pipe are not only smoother but also stronger than a traditional Bong or Smoking pipe. This increase in potency may be due to a combination of the density of cold air vs. warmer air and no filtering.

With internal temperatures well below that of a Bong/water-pipe, users report that temperatures of -5 Celsius and below provide a far smoother smoke experience than any non-active cooling bong. Not only do users report a more intense effect when smoking with a TEC Pipe, they also report a crisper more intense flavor.

Technologies[edit]

TEC Pipes differ in construction/material from most water pipes, hookah, and other pipes in the market. The difference in the construction, which at this time requires 3D printing, is primarily due to the tight specifications required within the smoke cooling chambers, multiple inner chambers, and stresses applied to the materials. Glass bowls are used for the burning of the smoke materials, and pipes use a standard 14mm male adapter.

The TEC Pipe design initially started as a self-challenge by inventor Jose Macias (JoMac). JoMac, along with fellow inventor Wade Young set out to create a pipe that cooled smoke, but did it without the use of water, ice or, other methods that can filter desired elements contained within the smoke. With feedback from Nancy Estrada (Fort Worth, TX), S.J.M (Grand Prairie, TX), Nikki (Grand Prairie, TX) the TEC Pipe multi-step cooling design was born.

Some users, can’t help but notice the similarity of equipment used in the TEC Pipe and computer cooling equipment, this should not be a surprise, as both inventors have a background in design and manufacturing of thermal management in the P.C. field.
