Theron Tingstad (born 1980) is an American entrepreneur, former military officer, and collegiate athlete. He is the founder and CEO of Arbor Growth Partners, an advertising and digital marketing firm based in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Early life and education

Tingstad was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1980. Due to his parents' work, he moved frequently during his childhood, living in Michigan, South Carolina, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Alaska.

Tingstad attended the University of Michigan, where he competed as a collegiate boxer in the junior welterweight division and achieved All-American status. He later earned a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Harvard Kennedy School of Government (2013-2014), followed by a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business (2014-2016) with a focus on marketing and finance.

Athletic career

During his collegiate career, Tingstad was a successful boxer competing in the junior welterweight division. He achieved All-American status in collegiate boxing and became the Midwest champion in 2000. He has written about his experiences in the sport, particularly regarding the risks and rewards of contact sports.

Currently, Tingstad serves as a coach for the University of Michigan "Michigan College Boxing" Team, continuing his involvement in the sport that shaped his early career.

Military service

Tingstad served in the United States military from 2007 to 2012, beginning with the United States Navy (2007-2009) before directly transferring to the United States Army (2009-2012). Early career

After graduating from the University of Michigan, Tingstad worked as an analyst at the US Department of State in the Bureau of Political Military Affairs, from 2003-2007.

He then served in the US Military from 2007-2012, in both the Navy and the Army. After leaving the military, Tingstad worked in DC for a year before leaving for grad school at Harvard's Kennedy School, in 2013.

After graduating from Harvard Kennedy School in 2014, Tingstad worked in the Government Affairs office of Teach for America during the summer before beginning his MBA studies.

Google

Tingstad worked at Google for five years as a Senior Manager on the Google Accelerated Growth Team, a specialized growth marketing unit that helped brands rapidly scale profitably on the Google Ads platform.

Arbor Growth Partners

In 2021, Tingstad co-founded Arbor Growth Partners alongside Mike Birney and Zain Mahmud. The marketing and advertising firm provides advertising, search engine marketing (SEM), search engine optimization (SEO), AI Search Optimization, content strategy, and web development services, and is based in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Under Tingstad's leadership, Arbor Growth Partners serves as Agency of Record for notable New York brands including Moscot, Chelsea Piers, and LadyM. The company has also worked with prominent clients such as Grayscale Investments and Club Champion, helping navigate complex advertising challenges. The company has received recognition from Crain's Detroit Business.

Other ventures
