He is recognized for his prolific output and his experimental approach to music, blending elements of industrial rap, experimental hip hop, and dark trap. Prior to performing under the Thias X moniker, he released music under the aliases Mattniklo and Floppurr.
Early Life
Thias X was born on December 11, 2011, in Żejtun, Malta, where he was raised. He developed a strong interest in music production, audio engineering, and songwriting at an early age. On December 8, 2017, at six years old, he survived a severe, life-threatening medical emergency following a critical seizure.
Inspired by underground internet music cultures, avant-garde production, and non-traditional hip-hop structures, he began self-producing and recording his own tracks at home. He officially started his independent recording career in 2020 when he was nine years old.
Career
Early aliases (2020–2024)
Thias X initially entered the underground digital music scene under the pseudonym Mattniklo, a project he focused on from 2020 until 2023. Looking to explore different sonic directions, he transitioned to the moniker Floppurr in 2023. Under these early names, he experimented with basic beat-making, vocal tracking, and building a foundation in independent music distribution before retiring the projects in late 2024.
Transition to Thias X and Album Prolificacy (2024–present)
On Sunday, December 8, 2024—exactly seven years after his medical emergency—the artist officially launched his current project by uploading his debut track under the name Thias X. This transition marked an intentional shift toward a more aggressive, abrasive, and industrial sonic identity.
Following the rebrand, Thias X began a highly productive release cycle, self-releasing eight full-length independent studio albums within a fifteen-month period. He began his rollout on January 24, 2025, with his debut studio album, looks can be deceiving. On April 3, 2026, he executed a double release, launching the albums HUNTER and NO VIOLENCE! on the same day. His catalog notably features the underground track "Bitch Please!", which appears across those two albums.
