Thinking Huts

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Thinking Huts is a Nonprofit organization founded in 2015 that aims to use technology and 3D printing as tools to increase access to education in developing nations and other locations where infrastructure is nonexistent or very poor. It seeks to increase access to education by building 3D printed schools where infrastructure is needed.[1][2] As of 2020 Thinking Huts launched a pilot to build their first 3D printed school in Fianarantsoa, Madagascar.[3]

History

Thinking Huts was founded by Maggie Grout when she was in high school. Adopted from China, she knew that her life could have followed a very different path, and this influenced her in addressing the opportunity gap through increasing access to education.[4] [5]

By leveraging 3D printing, Thinking Huts aims to decrease construction time from months to days while involving the local economy in each build. [6] [7]
