Plot[edit]

The film opens as Tom (Winter) sits in a coffee shop looking at pictures of Chloe Griffin (Mistrot). He receives a call from Cameron (Eliot) informing him he's late for their Friday get together where they play Rock Band with Lauren (Massey) and Sam (Barone). Tom states he's on his way, while his friends begin the game. Before Tom can leave he sees Chloe Griffin walk through the door, much to his surprise he's approached by her and asks to sit with him. The two engage in a "meet-cute" that leads to Chloe giving Tom her number. Tom tells his friends about receiving Chloe's number, each of whom are very skeptical of the situation despite Tom's elation. Despite this Sam wonders what Tom's next move will be going forward. Deciding to let it "soak in" before he calls her, Sam suggests that Tom call his sister Sarah for advice much to Tom's chagrin, despite this he meets with her. The next day, Tom meets with his Sarah to get some advice, Tom tells her that while she seems perfect he doesn't understand why she's picking him. Tom's sister assures him that he's "thinking about it too much" and urges him to go with the flow and just take her on a date. Meanwhile Chloe meets with her friends, while talking about Tom they can't seem to believe she'd ever ask a guy like him out, too which Chloe adds that he's sweet but is surprised he hasn't called yet. Tom decides to ask Chloe to dinner at Miguel's because Lauren works there and can assist Tom during the date. Just as he is about to call Chloe, Cameron and Sam rush over to watch Tom in action. Chloe accepts Tom's date and the two meet up at Miguel's. The date appears to be going well if not awkward, which causes Chloe to tell Tom to just relax. After the date Lauren returns home where her the gang is waiting for her. Cameron asks Tom when the next date will be? As Tom tells him he has no clue, but she had an amazing time describing Chloe as "radiant". The next day Lauren encounters Jase at the local library attempting to get his attention, but his girlfriend pulls him away. While looking through beauty magazines Jase approaches Lauren and the two share a moment just before he is pulled away again. Meanwhile at Chloe's house, she and Cassandra talk about her date with Tom. Cassandra assuming the worst begins to mock the date and Tom, but Chloe assures her the date was great and brings up a conversation they had about the band Angels & Airwaves. Beginning to show feelings for Tom, Chloe talks about how nice it was to share her feelings with someone, but is quickly shut down by Cassandra. Back at the gangs hangout place Lauren asks Sam if he would go talk to Sarah with him, and the two leave. Once at Sarah's Sam awkwardly interacts with the two, before being asked to take out the dogs. While alone, Lauren asks Sarah what it's like being popular specifically the guys. Sarah tells her that it always felt like everyone was above us and that the people below didn't even count, but that what really matters is finding someone who will see you through it all. After receiving a call from Chloe, Tom accepts a second date with her despite an upcoming cold front. This causes him to have a jam session in his room to the song Everybody Wants to Rule the World. While on his second date, Tom acknowledges the cold and Chloe talks to Tom about how much she wants to go to New York. The two engage in a conversation of life and faith, that leads Chloe to ask if Tom would ever go to New York, he responds "only if I could be there with you" While at the Mall, Cameron expresses his disdain that Tom is no longer playing Rock Band with the group. Sam and Lauren tell him that because he has a girlfriend he's naturally going to become busier. This makes Cameron jealous as he notices a girl across the way and tells the gang he will be asking her out, much to Sam and Lauren's surprise. When Cameron returns he's even more shocked that the girl said yes, as he asks Lauren to do the exact same restaurant date with him that Tom had. This leads to an awkward situation as it becomes a double date with Jase and his girlfriend. Causing Lauren to become embarrassed. Despite this Jase asks Cameron to introduce him to Lauren as he has a crush on her, and is ready to escape his own relationship. A few days later Tom and Chloe are on yet another date, this time one that Tom has prepared himself. Chloe asks Tom why he's so good to her, as she didn't expect such a sweet relationship with him. As Tom replies he did it because he wanted to, and there shouldn't have to be a reason, despite Chloe feeling undeserved of him. That night Chloe expresses her love for Tom as he is so different from her own friends and feels she has pulled her out of a funk. Tom tells Chloe he would never treat her as on object but as a human and the two kiss. Meanwhile Cameron begins to train Jase to be the groups new Rock Band drummer so he can meet Lauren, proving harder to him than he thought. He decides to stick it out for a chance to meet Lauren. Back at Lauren's house she and Sam watch a movie and discuss the current state of their friends' relationships. As Lauren expresses her insecurities if a popular person were to ask her out. Sam expresses his reasons for loving Tom's sister Sarah, stating he would "wait his entire life for a chance with her". Through a montage sequence we see Lauren discovering more about herself at a museum, Jase finally breaking up with his girlfriend, Tom and Chloe's blossoming relationship, and Sam's continued attempts to woo Sarah. After a period of time Chloe confesses to Tom she still hasn't listened to Angels & Airwaves, much to Tom's surprise. He tells her when the time is right put in your headphones and just listen. The two share a kiss as Cassandra enters the house, Chloe tells Tom to hide and shoves him in the closet. Cassandra asks why Chloe hasn't been returning her calls and asks why she is still spending time with Tom? Revealing that Tom was only asked out because of a bet and that Chloe was paid for her first date, Cassandra leaves and Tom emerges from the closet. Devastated, Tom leaves as a flashback shows the night Chloe asked Tom out from her perspective. After Tom leaves Chloe takes his advice and finally listens to his favorite band, while Tom tells his friends about the situation. In the midst of all of this Cameron finally tells Lauren that Jase likes her. Thinking she's being messed with especially after what happened to Tom, Lauren leaves. Meanwhile Sam, finally attempting to ask Sarah out notices a guy in her house. He drops his flowers and leaves with his head down. A few days after the damage Tom has a conversation with Cameron about how much he missed his friends as Jase is revealed as the bands new drummer. The two engage in a conversation about Chloe. He tells Sam Chloe is normally a stickler with guys and the fact that she went on even one date with you says something. Tom humbled by his response tells Jase that Lauren would be lucky to have him. The group plays a round of Rock Band as Lauren enters she notices Jase in the drummers chair. Sometime later Chloe meets with Lauren telling her to let Tom know that she truly did love him and that she's sorry. Lauren asks her is she thinks someone like her could truly be with someone like Tom, she responds yes and that it's simple but not easy. Meanwhile at Sarah's house Tom and Cameron rekindle their friendship as they leave Sarah kisses Sam on the cheek and thanks him for being there for her brother. Back at the library Lauren runs into Jase and the two spend the day with one another. The next day Tom finds out Chloe is leaving for New York and finds her at the airport, she apologizes for the bet and Tom confesses he wants to take her back, and pulls out a plane ticket. The two kiss and walk to the plane to begin their life together.
