Thomas David Schoonover (1936 – 2023) was an American historian and university professor. He specialized in the American Civil War, the history of labor, and his later work was on American relations with Latin America.
Life
He was born on May 27, 1936, in Winona, Minnesota.[1]
He died after a long illness on December 24, 2023, at Pelican Pointe Healthcare Centre in Maurice, Louisiana.[1]
Education
He received his BA in Liberal Arts from the University of Minnesota, followed by his MA in Liberal Arts in 1961 from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and eventually, his PhD in History from the University of Minnesota in 1970.[1]
Career
He taught history at the University of Minnesota and Louisiana State University.[2]
