Thomas Fischer is a German academic and Associate Professor at the University of Geneva, specializing in management and leadership studies. He is known for his research on leadership styles, ethical leadership, and abusive supervision..[1][2]
Academic career[edit]
Fischer holds a PhD in Economics with a focus on management from the University of Lausanne.[1][3] He also earned a master's degree in Mathematics from the Technical University of Munich and bachelor's degrees in Mathematics and Business Administration from the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt in Germany.[1] Fischer is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Geneva.[1]
Fischer received the Best Paper Award from The Leadership Quarterly in 2021 for his research on ethical leadership.[4] His study on abusive supervision was recognized as the first runner-up for the Best Paper Award by The Leadership Quarterly.[1]
Only in July 2024, he was invited by the "Brain for Business" podcast run by Laurence Knell to discuss his research.[5] The same month he was invited to the famous Matinale show at the Radio Télévision Suisse to discuss how the personalities of the people evaluating their bosses influence their perception of them, regardless of the behavior exhibited by the boss.[6]
Currently, he serves as the Yearly Review Editor for The Leadership Quarterly, a journal in leadership studies, where he has co-edited special issues that have garnered attention for their theoretical contributions to the field[7]
