Thomas Joseph
Dr. Thomas Joseph is an Indian academician and strategy advisor to political fronts, corporations and governments. While his primary role is with the Indian National Congress and its allies, the IIT-IIM ecosystem and the Government of India, he has had the privilege of serving as an advisor to leading for-profit and non-profit institutions across APAC, EMEA and North Americas.
Early Life and Education
Dr. Thomas Joseph was raised in Ullikal, a village in Kerala, India, by his parents, O.T. Joseph and Susy Cherian, primary school teachers and renowned social workers. His academic journey began with a B.Tech (EEE) from TKM College of Engineering, which paved the way for a Ph.D. from IIM Bangalore. Dr. Thomas Joseph has since been privileged to receive awards from, study at, and research with several leading global institutions, with the most significant awards and stints with Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan and IIM Udaipur.
Professional and Political Career
Even though a large portion of his 30 year career has been spent in politics with leading or pro bono advising UPA / INDIA campaigns, he also brings substantial industry experience. Dr. Thomas Joseph initiated his business and corporate career with foundational roles at key industrial firms, including Apollo Tyres, Binani Zinc, and IPCL. This experience was significantly built upon during his tenure as a part of the senior leadership team for over 10 years at Unimoni, one of the world's largest remittances firms. Supplementing his practical experience, his core areas of specialization, delivered through research, teaching, consulting, and advisory services, include strategy formulation, strategy execution, performance management, and international business strategy, often provided at leading research institutions and corporations across the APAC, EMEA, and Americas regions. Dr. Joseph is also a published author, having indirectly contributed to or directly published in over hundred books and scholarly as well as newspaper articles.
