Thomas Andrew Schoenberger (born June 1, 1960) is an Internet celebrity[1] musician, and composer.[2][3] associated with numerous political conspiracies including the murder of Seth Rich,[4] Cicada 3301 and QAnon.[1][5] Schoenberger is best known for connections to various conspiracies and puzzles: his association with financier Ed Butowsky in the murder of Seth Rich via his business Shadowbox Strategies;[4] the internet puzzle Cicada 3301 from 2015 to 2018; and from 2017 on, associations to QAnon.[6][7][8]

Musical career[edit]

As a musician, Schoenberger is best known for for his piano compositions for infants.[2][3][9][10]

The song "Looney Bin," co-credited to Schoenberger as Tom Schoenberger, appears on Angelyne's self-titled 1982 album. Schoenberger also co-wrote music for the public access television movie "Santa and Sons and Daughter" with business partner Eric Symons.[10][11][12]

Aaron Rich[edit]

On June 27, 2019, Schoenberger provided a deposition for the Aaron Rich vs. Ed Butowsky, Matthew Couch, and America First lawsuit, filed in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. Aaron Rich, the brother of murdered Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich had filed a defamation lawsuit against financier Ed Butowsky. Schoenberger co-founded Shadowbox Strategies, a reputation restoration and repair company Butowsky hired in 2018.[4]

QAnon[edit]

Schoenberger has been a focus of documentaries and articles centering around the origins of the internet phenomenon QAnon. He denies that he has any involvement with QAnon.[5][6][7][13]

Cicada 3301[edit]

Some ARG experts and players have stated that Schoenberger "game-jacked" (misappropriated through social engineering) the Cicada puzzles from 2017 on.[5][7]

Personal life[edit]

Shoenberger's father, Theodore L. Schoenberger, was a psychoanalyst;[14] his mother was a tour guide and author, and his brother is a cancer researcher.[15][16]

The composer's second wife is pianist Farank Shahroozi[17]
