Thor Magnusson

Thor Magnusson is an Icelandic UK-based musician, researcher and software developer. He is a co-founder of the ixi software collective and the author of the award winning ixiQuarks music software and the ixi lang live coding language. He leads the Live Coding Research Network, together with Alex McLean.

Magnusson's research explores the impact of new technologies on musical creativity and practice, explored through software development, composition and performance. He regularly lectures and performs internationally, for example at the Darmstadt Summer School for New Music[1] and Ars Electronica[2].

Thor Magnusson is the Head of the Music Department at the University of Sussex, Brighton, UK.
